This walk brings our community together to raise awareness and remind anyone struggling that their story matters and they are not alone.
The number 7,500 was chosen with purpose. Studies show that there were 7,482 suicide deaths among people ages 35–44, a figure almost exactly 7,500. It is also documented that there were 7,240 deaths among those ages 20–29, 7,081 among those ages 45–54, and 7,137 among those ages 55–64. CDC final data also show 6,488 deaths among young people ages 10–24.
Behind every number is a person, a family, and a story that matters.
The shirt’s walking figure represents moving forward one step at a time, while the semicolon represents a story that is not over.
We walk in memory of Georgie and Aiden Collazo, in honor of the service members we have lost, and for everyone affected by suicide.
Funds raised will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Aiden Collazo’s family.
